Located just nine degrees above the equator in a dry, tropical forest and with its own microclimate, Tamarindo's Weather varies very little throughout the year, with only a dry season and a wet season marking any change.
Excessive heat and constant sunshine can be expected no matter what time of the year you visit Tamarindo.
The wet season falls from late April to October, when heavy showers can be seen in the evenings. As Tamarindo is one of the driest areas in Costa Rica, though, you're still unlikely to be overly affected by these wet spells.
In the dry season, wet weather is practically non existant and the humidity drops with it.
A holiday here in January guarantees you plenty of hot weather (with temperatures occassionally reaching as high as 30 degrees and over) with up to seven hours of sunshine every day, so make sure you pack plenty of sun cream.
The temperature during this month is 27°C (81°F), reaching highs of 31°C (88°F) and dropping to lows of 23°C (73°F).
The average amount of rainfall is 4 mm over 7 days.
There are on average 7 hours of sunshine every day.
In a beach resort like Tamarindo, it goes without saying that water sports are going to be a popular activity with locals and tourists alike and many people travel to the area to enjoy the fantastic conditions for their particular sport.
Snorkelling is one of these sports and can be enjoyed by anyone, including families with children. Under the water lies spectacular coral reef, exotic marine life and volcanic formations that make this a wonderful experience.
